The Avebury Connection

In August 2021 one of the Sussex Dowsers invited members of the Earth Energies people to a dowsing meet-up at Avebury. I had been in the Earth Energies facebook group for a few months and enjoyed the conversations I’d had with a couple of members in particular. On seeing this invite, I checked out whether anyone could come and was told, “yes, just turn up, meet at the café at 10.30am on Sunday”.
I’m not part of any dowsing group and hadn’t met any of these people before, but I knew that I wanted to go, so I made a weekend of it.
I trundled off in my campervan on Friday evening, deciding to stop off at the Rollright Stones and then at Uffington White Horse. I parked up in the layby by the stone circle and wandered about in the early evening dowsing Belinus and Elen and finding the node on the stones behind the Kingstone. Although it’s interesting finding the earth energies are indeed where someone else has found them to be, that’s not really what floats my boat, I like to interact with the landscape in some way. I went across the road and dowsed amongst the stone circle and basically got a bit bored so decided to wander down to the Whispering Knights.
As I approached the dogleg on the path towards the Knights, a buzzard swooped from the sky and disappeared behind the trees and down to the ground. It really grabbed my attention! So after having a wander around the Whispering Knights, I thought I would try to find where the buzzard had gone.
At the Knights, the sun was getting lower in the sky and I was enjoying taking some photographs and playing with the light. I stood in the quiet and closed my eyes and a triangle was there in my mind’s eye. I walked around to take some photos from different angle and whenever I closed my eyes the triangle was there. I had no idea why, it was just a curiosity.
The next day I headed to Uffington to check out the White Horse and Dragon Hill. I spent most of the time at Uffington Castle and again had a pretty uneventful day and the only thing of note was that I still kept having this triangle in my minds eye. Again I thought nothing of it and as I felt a bit of pressure to get moving so that I could get to West Kennet Long Barrow for a meditation session at 7pm, I got back on the road. I needn’t have been under pressure as I got the day wrong anyway, but at least I was now in the right location for the meetup the following day.
On Sunday morning I arrived in ADHD time ie late and missed the group meeting up at 10.30 at the café. I got myself a coffee and went out into the fields and saw a bunch of likely looking people hanging in small groups near a tree. Some seemed to be trying to locate something near the tree, some chatting in a circle and another group using markers to mark something out on the ground. I went over and checked that I had found the right group and after a few minutes observing, got my rods out and asked David Charman, the guy who had organised the event, what they were looking for. He showed me a feature on his map that he called “Pyramid”. I dowsed and found an energy spot that dowsed as a petal. I grabbed the nearest random person who wasn’t doing anything (I later learned that she was Sue Wallace from www.stoneseeker.net) and asked her if she could verify my dowsing. Without me saying what I had found, she found the same thing. David explained that he had dowsed a kind of lopsided energetic pyramid at this location, as seen on this map that David produced (top left).

Whilst I was doing this, I got chatting to someone else and when we introduced ourselves to each other, she was Ali, one of the two women from the Earth Energies group that I had hoped to meet up with at some point. On hearing us exclaiming our surprise at meeting like this, who should overhear us and wander over…….Mave (www.dowsingsherwood.com)…..the second of the two women I had hoped to meet. Synchronicity!
David was ready to move onto another spot and so gathered the group and we walked over to see a feature that David called an ‘Eye’ on the perimeter of henge near the northern gate of the The Cove field. David explained that when he had visited some 9 years previous with his son, they could ‘energy view’ a feature which presented itself to him as an eye. He was explaining to a small group of us how to view this energy in your mind's eye.. I wandered along the embankment a little to have a go and all I could see was this triangle….again!!!
Meanwhile David, Mave, Ali and Sue Wallace were interacting with this feature and they said that it had changed. I wandered back across behind them and as I did so, they said that it had changed again, Ali could see a diamond shape or like a pyramid/triangle with another pointing downwards. This triangle yet again!!!!! Mave had an idea that the eye that David could see was actually two spheres that overlapped to form a Vesica Pisces and the overlap created the eye feature. Could this also explain the upward and downward pointing pyramid/triangles….a vesica pisces on it’s side??? As I chatted with Ali and continued to experiment with energy viewing I began to see a seed of life
It was approaching the time of the full moon and a ceremony was due to start at The Cove, so we wandered over. Before it started, I heard someone talking about dowsing the aura of the stones, so went and introduced myself and asked if he could show me how to do it. It turned out that this was Peter Knight, husband of Sue Wallace. He asked me if I had found anything and I said that I had found an energy spot on the other side of the stones, which he informed me was the node of the Michael and Mary earth energies. As the ceremony began, we sat on the grass, chilled and enjoyed a quiet moment.
After the ceremony was completed, the dowsers all gathered near the stones and a few of the men started "men-ing" which is my word for allowing their egos to get the better of them in trying to impress or oppress each other with their knowledge and correctness. I can’t be arsed with this, in fact it really boils my piss and I realised that not everyone was interested in that either, so a few of us wandered off either to the pub or to another field.
In the South East field, it turned out that Ali, Mave and myself had ended up as a little trio. We dowsed another feature on David’s map, a spiral. Beween the three of us we worked out that it was a blind spring that had previously had a tree, or trees growing above it. It seemed that over the millenia several different species of trees had grown on that spot, although there was no tree at this current time. We sat and chatted for a while, dowsed some more and then the rest of a much depleted group caught up with us.
David suggested that we go to check out the ‘Blue spot’ over the north east of the field. Ali asked how we would find it, what should we look out for and David told us to just dowse for it and ask to be shown David’s blue spot. The blue spot was just a mark on the map in blue pen, there was no marker on the ground. So that’s what we did. And this is where things got really interesting and very, very strange!
I arrived a few paces ahead of the others to a spot, with Ali a few paces behind arriving at another spot. This had us flummoxed from the start. I asked to be shown David’s spot again and was taken to Ali’s spot. I thought I must have been previously mistaken, so went back over near the first spot and asked to shown David’s blue spot and my rods took me to the place I had been shown in the first instance. I stood on the ‘blue spot’ and asked my rods to take me to Davids blue spot and my rods took my over to Ali’s spot. I called her over and showed her what was happening. Mave and Ali started to dowse the edges and I was exploring the connection between the spots. There seemed to be a spiral at my spot that circled inwards and then formed a line going over to Ali’s spot, spiraled inwards and then formed another line going to another spot. Meanwhile, David, and two other men I didn’t know had joined us and were also dowsing and engaging with this feature. As we were dowsing it and observing it, it was growing and changing. At one point, it seemed to have 4 sides, then I dowsed it with 5 sides and spots each with spirals and then one of the guys, both of whom where called Paul, said that he had dowsed 6 sides. We energy viewed the feature but I don’t remember talking about it much at the time. We had several conversations at a much later date discussing what we had seen and we had all seen different aspects of something that was a complex, moving, rotating, merkhaba star, metatrons cube, mandala.
By this point I was flagging and decided to go and sit on a big stone under a tree and got chatting to the other Paul, who happened to be Paul Syrett (www.spiritman.me) the chairman of Slimbridge Dowsers and had a lovely conversation about talking to trees.
A few of us went to the pub afterwards for a bit to eat and then a few of us went up to West Kennet Long Barrow for the full moon ceremony that Peter and Sue were running that evening.
I had no idea that some of these people that I had met for the first time today, were of significance and that our paths not only would cross again, but that we would be working together on things that are expanding the knowledge and experience of earth energies.
When I arrived home, I looked at my photographs of the Whispering Knights and realised that there was a triangle shape in the clouds on my photograph. It had started before I even knew it was happening.
